Easy Apple Crisp

freshbakedapplecrisp
Well it’s officially fall in Central New York, and boy is it feeling like it! Have you gone apple picking yet? What is your favorite kind of apples? Our favorite is the Honey Crisp, it’s so crispy, juicy and sweet! We enjoy Honey Crisp the most for eating. For baking we usually pick out some Cortland too.

There are so many different recipes that use apples, but apple crisp has to be the one I make the most during the fall time! And that’s mostly because it’s quick and easy to make. This recipe will taste better than any other apple crisp you’ve made before and you can be sure to impress!! Trrrust me!

For the Crisp You will need:

1 box of YELLOW cake mix

1 cup old fashioned oats

1 cup butter or margarine (softened but not melted)

3/4 cup brown sugar

2 tbsp Cinnamon

4 large apples or 6 small

(For the Cinnamon Sprinkle: 1/3 cup white sugar mixed with 1 tsp cinnamon to sprinkle on top of the apple slices. )
slicedapples
First, you will need to peal the apples. Then cut them into equal size slices.

Divide the apples into two separate layers. Sprinkle both of the layers lightly with the cinnamon and sugar mixture.

Then mix the cake mix, softened 2 sticks of butter, brown sugar, oats, and cinnamon in a big bowl until well combined. I use a baking blender (as shown in the photo) to mix this all together and make the crispy topping crumbly. If you don’t have one, I urge you to consider purchasing one, you will use it more often than you’d think for baking, but if you don’t want to, that’s okay too just make it crumble using a fork to break it apart.
readytobake

Layer the crumble topping on top of the apple slices and bake at 350 degrees for about 25minutes or until the apples are soft and the outside is just lightly browned.

Enjoy warm with some vanilla ice cream or cool whip!

~Quick Bread: Cinnamon Swirl Bread

Fall is officially here in upstate New York { if you ask me} . The leaves are changing color and the days are getting colder & shorter. As much as I will miss the sunny summer, I am so ready for the fall time. Something about a cold fall day screams time crank up the oven and get the house warm with some fresh baked goodies.

Today, I baked this lovely quick bread, you know the kind that doesn’t involve using yeast. Anything that is easier is better in my book, especially if it still tastes amazing. This bread is sweet and fluffy, much of the texture of a cake. Mmm it’s the perfect fall time treat.

2. Add oil, mix until small lumps begin to form.  Then add the sour cream, beaten eggs, and vanilla. Mix just until batter begins to form, do not over mix. (Batter will appear lumpy, and that is okay!)

3. Now for the cinnamon swirl, mix together the sugar and cinnamon.

4. Add 1/3 of the batter to the bread pan, then layer 1/2 of the cinnamon swirl on top of it. Take another 1/3 of the batter and do the same thing.

5. Add the rest of the remaining batter on top of that. Now time to prepare the cinnamon crumble. Mix together the flour, sugar and cinnamon. Use a pastry blender to cut in the soften butter until a nice crumbly texture appears.

If you don’t have one, that’s okay. Mix together then shift it using a fork.

6. Add the crumble on top of the batter and bake at 350 degrees for about 65 minutes. Or until toothpick inserted into bread comes out clean.

7. Once it’s all done baking allow it to cool for a few minutes. In the mean time mix up the glaze. Pour it into a zip-lock baggy and cut a small section off the corner of it to squeeze onto the warm bread {just before serving}.

The cinnamon swirls bake all by themselves.

Bath and Body Works *Sale*

Bath & Body Works happens to be one of my favorite stores. I am addicted (yes, I’ll be the first to admit I have a slight problem) to buying their body products, as well as their home products because they’re always having a sale!

Going on right now throughout next Sunday (September 21st) is their [2 for $22] 3-Wick candle sale! This is my most favorite sale they have, because it’s like buying one candle and getting one free. Then, to top that all off you get can each additional candle for only $11. You can combined this sale with any coupons you have. I bought 3 candles on sale and then used my coupon for $10 off a $30 purchase and my total come to just under $24.00!!!

Want to know why I love BBW candles so much? Well- first off… it’s because they smell amazingg!! I’m serious! And they smell even better when their burning. I also love how they fill the entire room with the lovely scent, just kidding, they fill my entire down stairs! They also burn evenly because they have 3 wicks. These candles last a while too. I usually buy certain scents for each season and they usually last past that!

My current favorite obsession is the smell of cinnamon & pumpkin. Their Hierloom Pumpkin is just that with a hint of nutmeg. MMM mmm MMM it smells just like fall time.

Well if your like me, then this candle for you is called {{ Mahogany Teakwood }} trust me you wont be disapointed!! My other favorites are Citron Cedarwood, Bergamod Woods and Flannel!
