Bath and Body Works *Sale*

Bath & Body Works happens to be one of my favorite stores. I am addicted (yes, I’ll be the first to admit I have a slight problem) to buying their body products, as well as their home products because they’re always having a sale!

Going on right now throughout next Sunday (September 21st) is their [2 for $22] 3-Wick candle sale! This is my most favorite sale they have, because it’s like buying one candle and getting one free. Then, to top that all off you get can each additional candle for only $11. You can combined this sale with any coupons you have. I bought 3 candles on sale and then used my coupon for $10 off a $30 purchase and my total come to just under $24.00!!!

Want to know why I love BBW candles so much? Well- first off… it’s because they smell amazingg!! I’m serious! And they smell even better when their burning. I also love how they fill the entire room with the lovely scent, just kidding, they fill my entire down stairs! They also burn evenly because they have 3 wicks. These candles last a while too. I usually buy certain scents for each season and they usually last past that!

My current favorite obsession is the smell of cinnamon & pumpkin. Their Hierloom Pumpkin is just that with a hint of nutmeg. MMM mmm MMM it smells just like fall time.

Some of my other personal favorites for all year, are what I like to call “man candles” .. because they smell like a mans cologne. I’m talking like… Abecrombie & Fitch.. you can’t walk by that store without taking in a breath of handsome hunk-ness! Well if your like me, then this candle for you is called {{ Mahogany Teakwood }} trust me you wont be disapointed!! My other favorites are Citron Cedarwood, Bergamod Woods and Flannel! You’ll thank me later! 😉

Happy shopping & great sales!

4th of July * Chocolate Chip Cookie Cake

Have you ever tried a cookie cake before? It’s a big giant cookie with frosting on top. Mmm Mmm Mmm it’s soft and chewy and taste so yummy.

For the 4th of July I made a flag themed one for dessert. (It would also be great on Flag Day or Memorial Day.)
I used blueberries around the entire outside and for the stars. Then I cut up strawberries for the red stripes.

Here’s what you will need to make your own:
1 – 2lb. Toll House cookie dough (I used chocolate-chip but you could use sugar as well)1- 8oz. of cream cheese (softened)
1- 8oz.  frozen cool-whip (thawed)
4- squares white chocolate (melted)
1-  cup confectionery sugar

Preheat oven to 350.
First roll out the cookie dough on a cookie sheet. I slice the cookie dough roll into circles and arranged on a cookie sheet. Then using wax paper, I roll over the cookie dough until smooth. (Don’t roll to the edges as the cookie will get bigger while it bakes.) Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the edges are lightly browned.
Take out of oven and allow the cookie to cool completely (about an hour). The cookie will continue to bake while its cooling down, so it’s important not to over bake it in the oven. Hey now, we want a soft and chewy cookie after all.

While the cookie is baking lets mix up the frosting. Using a mixer beat the soften cream cheese and melted white chocolate together until fluffy. Then mix in half of the cool-whip with the beaters and slowly add in the confectionery sugar. Once all of that is mixed together with beaters hand mix in the rest of the cool whip. Allow to refrigerate while the cookie is cooling. This will help harden the frosting.

After the cookie is completely cooked you can frost it.

Then add the blueberry boarder

Slice the strawberries

And add them to the flag for stripes

With the remaining frosting you can pipe some white stripes between the strawberries.

And there you have it. 🙂

*Red, White & Blue* Themed Mantel

With 4th of July in just a week away I thought I would share with you my DIY *Red, White and Blue* themed mantel in our living room. It’s perfect for both memorial day throughout the 4th of July!

On the mantel I have a few picture frames, our initials “C&S” for Christopher & Sara, and a candle pillar. To add the special red, white and blue touch I picked up a few things at our local Joann’s.
I found this really cute star made out of grapevine and I thought it would be perfect to take the place of the wreath I normally would make to hang on the front the mirror.  I also found a smaller star (red, white and blue) to hang in the middle of this one to add a little color. Next, I am going to show you how I made the star banner. It’s so easy to make, no one would ever guess it was homemade. I found some red, white and blue paper in the scrapbook isle. I cut out some stars to attach to the banner.
I cut out some burlap paper into the banner shape (7 to be total). Then fold the back down enough to hot glue the string behind it.

Once that is done you can flip it back over and hot glue your cut out star shapes to the front. Color coordinating red, white then blue.

Hang this up in the center of your mantel.

I found this FREEDOM wood sign at Joann’s as well. Snatched this baby up 70% off! I love a great sale.

This cute mini pillow is hung from one of the picture frame, adds just enough color to the left side of the mantel. Sometimes I think less is more.

This 4th of July themed candle is one the right side. On the candle are all differnt words that describe that special day, such as fireworks, bbq, picnics, america, freedom, and so on.

Just a couple small things make a big difference. ENJOY!

Valentine’s Mantel & Decor

We took down the Christmas decorations a few weeks ago.. and wow everything looked so bare. Chris thought it would be a good idea to decorate for Valentine’s Day {haha!} … let’s just say I thought he was being sarcastic. Turns out he enjoys the decorations as much as I do! 🙂

I searched around for some ideas on Pinterest and found some cute banners for the fireplace. Here’s how mine turned out:

Cute right? It was wicked easy.

I went to Joann’s and found some burlap paper. I cut out a stencil first for how I wanted the shape of the banner to be, and cut out 7 sections. Using some cute and festive valentines day scrap book paper I cut out hearts to hot glue them to the burlap. Next, I used some string and super glued it to the burlap paper by folding the edge of the burlap 1/2 inch over the string. It was a very inexpensive way to make a cute banner. Total cost was about $8 and the supplies made 3 banners (that I gave away to my friends/family). Oh and I always use a 40% off coupon for my most expensive item, you can print yours today online or show them the code on your smart phone at most craft stores.

Next, I wanted to make a Valentine’s Day wreath using my favorite and easiest way , a premade {Grapevine wreath} (you can find these at Hobby Lobby, Joann’s, Micheal’s, and even Wal-Mart). The best part is they cost about $3.99-8.99 depending on the size. I then find some holiday florals and cut them and intertwine them into the wreath. You can add whatever you like, ribbon, flowers, letters, to personalize it any way you like.

I was lucky and was able to find some left over Christmas florals that were marked down 80% off. Yay!  I mixed red and white to give it a valentines day look.

Isn’t this saying adorable? ~ “Every love story is beautiful, but ours is my favorite” ~ A little too mushy gushy for everyday, but perfect for my Valentine’s day decor. Since this decoration is only going to be used for such a short time ( only about 20 days) I decide to just print out the saying using powerpoint. Then I cut it out and glued it to  some cardboard, wrapped around the same string I used for the banner and also the same cut out hearts.

To make this look personalized, add some pictures of you and your love, like I did. I think the black and white pictures make it look romantic.

And there you have it ~ my quick, easy, and inexpensive way to add Valentine’s Day decor and a touch of love to your home today!

Decorating Your Christmas Mantel

If you haven’t noticed already, decorating a mantel has to be one of my favorite decorations for the holiday decor.  And as most of you know, Christmas happens to be my favorite holiday, not for the presents, but for the decorations and enjoying them with friends and family.

Christmas must haves for the mantel include:

  • garland
  • lights
  • nutcrackers
  • stockings

I personally like white lights for Christmas, it keeps things classy and cozy. Some like colored lights and thats okay too. This year we went for a traditional Christmas theme. Reds, Golds, Silver, and Bronze. Added some burlap to give it a country feel.

Other things you may want to include on your mantel ~ Christmas plates displayed, Christmas villages, Christmas Wreath, Christmas Candles, Pine cones and  Christmas Bulbs.

Close up of this years mantel. {{ How cozy does that look? }}

It’s always nice to tie in your decor some how, we got matching stockings, tree skirt, and bows.

Another thing you could add to either your mantel or Christmas decor is subway art. You can find many free printables by searching on pinterest. Here is the one I found

Lastly, Christmas wouldn’t be the same without the Mistletoe
